Movie Trailer #3: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

They’re all here now. Almost. Batman, Superman, Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman, Doomsday (Aquaman, Cyborg have yet to reveal themselves). And this third trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice finally connects many of the dots of what to expect (unless you read the purported leaked screenplay and know already). Batman/Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) isn’t a fan of Superman/Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) and does his best to let him know. Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) isn’t a fan of Superman either, and using the body of Zod brings about Doomsday. Cue Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) who magically appears to help the now united heroes fight a common enemy. But my words don’t do it justice (pun here), so check out the action and snide remarks in the trailer courtesy of Warner Bros.

You can check out the first two trailers here: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer #1 and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer #2

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Henry Cavill, Jesse Eisenberg, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Jeremy Irons and Ray Fisher.

I’m now firmly on board with Ben Affleck as Batman, but I’m not there with Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. If anything, I get the vibe that he is embodying The Joker. I don’t remember Luthor ever acting so squirrelly or strung-out.

Could be Lex is putting on an outward facing show to disarm the public.

There could be an as yet to be defined relationship between Luthor and Joker.

They should have kept Doomsday under wraps and cut out some of the comic relief/zingers. That kiddie stuff doesn’t fit with the darker tone of the DC universe-leave it with Marvel.

I’ve always been more drawn towards the grittier life themes of DC and so was more excited for Dawn of Justice than Civil War but after this this so-so trailer I’m rethinking that. Inexplicably, Civil War has more emotion and “human” themes.

Well they revealed way more than they should have but I’m still going to see it opening night.

At this point in the game I just want a DC-Marvel crossover where they all fight it out for superhero supremacy. A 2 hour mishmash of laser beams, transformations, armament, and incantations.
