The Norse God of Thunder is back in action in the trailer for Thor: The Dark World. Taking place after the events of “The Avengers,” Thor (Chris Hemsworth reprising his role) is now tasked with staving off a darkness that threatens the universe. To help him repeal the wave of Dark Elves led by the evil Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) he returns to Earth for love interest Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and even asks for help from exiled brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston). This movie is shaping up better than I expected, and is even testing the upcoming “Iron Man 3” for Marvel superiority. The trailer is embedded for your enjoyment, so check it out now.
Thor: The Dark World stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Anthony Hopkins, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Rene Russo and Ray Stevenson.
Official Synopsis:
Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Thor: The Dark World crushes with a mighty hammer blow US theaters on November 8, 2013 and UK theaters on October 30, 2013.

Never been much of a Thor fan myself. I’ve always preferred my superheroes to have had to “earn” their powers not be an immortal god born with them.

He owned the show the first time around. I’m hoping he’s used extensively this time too.

Late fall release? A one-two punch in May/June with Iron Man 3 would have been awesome.

Thor is a shittier hero than Wolverine but he gets the better trailer. Whoever in Marvel okayed that should be flayed.

The first Thor flick was nothing special so this sequel doesn’t have far to go to best it. From the trailer it looks like it doesn’t get much further.

Seriously? You need your eyes checked if you came to that conclusion.

Would be nice if they actually kill off Natalie Portman’s character.

Soon we’ll see nothing but comicbook superheroes in the theaters.

That’s a good thing, right? There are worse fates.

No, it isn’t. Everything will basically look and feel alike. The fact they’re already starting to go for obscure heroes like Ant-man proves my point…

Sold to the man acting like a kid in front of his monitor.
