Movie Trailer #2: Godzilla (2014)

They tried to kill it in 1954 but the atomic bomb only made it stronger and angrier. Meet Godzilla. With this latest trailer for Warner Bros & Legendary Pictures’ much anticipated movie, it is made clear again (at least from the point of view of humans) that the radioactive dinosaur has come ashore to even the score against humanity. And once again, with the creature getting limited screen time (I actually hope it never gets fully featured in a trailer), the focus is on the plight of humans and our inability to come to a consensus on what Godzilla is and more importantly how to stop it from destroying everything we’ve built. Also missing still is how the other creatures hinted at in the first trailer are involved (baby Godzillas, perhaps?). Watch in the embedded player to get your science-fiction action/adventure juices flowing.

Godzilla stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, Victor Rasuk, and Ken Watanabe.

They are doing everything right by this movie with this marketing campaign. My ‘need to see this movie now’ bar was just raised 50 more pegs.

I’m really digging the notion that our atom bomb testing was actually a cover for trying to kill Godzilla in the 50s. What troubles me is the bombs couldn’t stop it.

Ths other monsters aren’t Godzilla offspring. Around the 1:32 mark in the trailer something is big and it has wings. Maybe Rhodan or Ghidorah?

Rodan would be nice but I suspect it’ll be an original monster. . .

This takes place on the West Coast so that Statue of Liberty is the tourist clone in Las Vegas. And as far as I’m concerned, Godzilla is doing us a favor by flattening it.

Choke on that, Guillermo del Toro. This is Kaiju done the right way.

An R-rating would serve the film well but I’m betting it’ll get slapped with a PG-13. The destruction will be over the top if you are right though.

Holy shit, that’s one giant scary looking lizard. I’d be closing those doors a bit quicker people!

It’s only “Cloverfield” with a recognizable name.
