Movie Trailer #2: RoboCop (2014)

I’m beginning to think that by adding Samuel L. Jackson to their fantasy/science-fictiony superhero-ish flicks, movie producers think an automatic hit will be generated. It is the only way I can explain why Mr. Jackson is in every one of these movie types these days. It also explains why he is front and center in the second trailer for the hotly debated RoboCop remake. Truth be told his inclusion wasn’t necessary this time around as this trailer is much improved over the first. More sinister emphasis is focused to the how and why the cyborg officer of the future came to be and the action shots definitely feel more realistic. I’m not fully sold on this version yet, but it is a step in the right direction. Watch the latest trailer and see if your opinion of the movie changes.

RoboCop stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Douglas Urbanski, Jackie Earle Haley, Abbie Cornish and Aimee Garcia.

RoboCop (2014) by The Critical Movie Critics

Official Synopsis:
The year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years — and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) — a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit — is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: There is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

RoboCop delivers justice to US theaters on February 12, 2014 and UK theaters on February 7, 2014.

I have no doubt it’s going to be a good action flick. I just don’t like it being a remake of one of my favorites.

To me it looks like every other CGI’ed action movie. It really sucks there is no heart or brain to these movies anymore.

If I weren’t a big fan of Verhoeven’s version I’d be more excited for this.
