Whether it was needed or not, the stage sensation, Les Miserables, is making its way to theaters yet again. With a powerful cast, Universal Pictures’ adaptation, stays true to the play, following paroled prisoner Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) as he seeks redemption in a gritty 19th-century France. The trailer runs through some powerful backdrop scenes all to the unexpectedly good singing of “I Dream a Dream,” by Anne Hathaway. A movie like this is an acquired taste but it’ll surely catch the attention of the Academy. See for yourself and you’ll agree.
Les Miserables stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, Aaron Tveit and Eddie Redmayne.
Les Miserables finds redemption at US theaters on December 25, 2012 and UK theaters on January 11, 2013.

I’ll stick with the 1935 Frederic March, Charles Laughton non-singing version, thank you.
