2014 is, apparently, the year for the unconventional hero movie. Marvel struck gold with “Guardians of the Galaxy” this summer and now Walt Disney Animation is bringing Big Hero 6 to theaters this winter. Loosely based off of a Marvel comic miniseries of the same name, the family friendly pic revolves around an inflatable healthcare robot named Baymax and a young boy named Hiro (Ryan Potter) who together build a special bond (Baymax was engineered by Hiro’s deceased brother, Tadashi). This loving relationship is the focus of the first half of the trailer. The second half dives into comic action as the pair recruits friends — Wasabi (Damon Wayans, Jr.), Go Go Tomago (Jamie Chung), Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez), and Fred (T. J. Miller) — to form a team of crime-fighters. It’s all colorful and cute and cuddly (Baymax is a hugger after all) and, from the looks of it, probably another winner for Walt Disney Pictures. Check it out for yourself.
Big Hero 6 employs the voice talents of Ryan Potter, Scott Adsit, Jamie Chung, Genesis Rodriguez, Damon Wayans Jr., Alan Tudyk, T.J. Miller and James Cromwell.
Official Synopsis:
From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind “Frozen” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” comes Big Hero 6, an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax, a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada. When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.”
Big Hero 6 fights crime in US theaters on November 7, 2014 and UK theaters on January 30, 2015.
