Personally I was expecting a bigger splash but Lionsgate has finally delivered the first tease of the most anticipated film of the year — The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. The beginning of the rebellion against the Capital has started with District 12 and two time games winner, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) providing the spark and Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman) with District 13 President, Alma Coin (Julianne Moore), pulling the strings from behind the curtain. A glimpse of the levels President Snow (Donald Sutherland) will rise to to maintain his tyrannical rule impress that this first installment of the final book of Suzanne Collins’ series could be much bloodier. Get your first taste now in the trailer above.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland.

A trailer for this isn’t necessary. The whole friggin world is going to stop to watch the movie opening day anyway.

Of all the YA titles (Divergent, Enders Game, Twilight, Vampire Academy, the upcoming Maze Runner, etc), Hunger Games is the only one that made the material more than teen nonsense. As an adult male I am looking forward to this installment.

No good. This won’t have the teeth needed to faithfully capture the events in the book.

Bittersweet to see Philip Seymour Hoffman. His passing is a true loss.

Does this book warrant a split or is breaking a final book up into two parts the new norm? How far away are we from a book trilogy translating to nine films?

There are tonal shifts in the book but hardly enough to warrant two movies.
Peter Jackson split The Hobbit into three films, so a nine film book trilogy is a definite, albeit improbable, possibility.
