“War has begun,” growls Caesar, and from the looks of it from the latest trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes that war is going to be a helluva sight to watch unfold. Points are being stressed that it didn’t have to be this way, however, as Jason Clarke, taking over the sympathizer role filled previously by James Franco, has made the emotional connection needed between man and ape for peaceful coexistence. What fun is there is that though, especially when an old warhawk like Gary Oldman can bang the war drum and lead the decimated human populace back to prominence? Sadly, we know how this is going to turn out. Check out the action and more impressive WETA Digital visual effects anyways in the embedded trailer above.

So this one leads the humans and apes to the precipice of war. War for the Planet of the Apes (or whatever they decide to call it) will be the battle. And then we’ll finally get the remake of The Planet of the Apes…talk about stringing out a concept…

Good trailer although it makes the mistake of giving away a few plot points that I’d have preferred to discover when watching.

Even with limited numbers, humans should still be able to firebomb the forest and eliminate the threat will relative ease.
