Red Band Movie Trailer: Evil Dead (2013)

The Necronomicon has returned to wreak horrors upon some new, young flesh! A taste of those horrors was unleashed today by Sony Pictures in the form of a red-band trailer for Evil Dead. Basically, it clearly lays out the premise that anyone who reads from the “Book of the Dead” is going to die a horrible death at the hands of the undead. It’s a major reason I don’t go to remote cabins in the woods, live near a cemetery or read. Check out the trailer below — it’s gory, although I don’t believe it’s worthy of the “red-band” badge branded to it (it is a major ramp up of the Sam Raimi original, though).

Evil Dead stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Elizabeth Blackmore and Lou Taylor Pucci.

I’ll say it first, “Bring Bruce Back!”

As much as I am against the wave of remakes, reimages, rewhateverthefucks, I’ve always thought Evil Dead needed to be remade into a ‘more real’ horror movie. I’d say initially this looks to have satisfied that need.

If Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are fine with it than so am I.

Think they’ll leave the rape tree in the remake?

I can’t imagine they would although I’d applaud them if they did!

I don’t really understand the self-mutilation stuff but it looks cool enough.

Just an excuse to push the gore boundary, I suppose.

Campy comedy violence replaced by intense senseless gore? Even if the original producers are behind this, I think they’ve missed the spirit of the Evil Dead series.

Todays youth can’t read or write so are we really supposed to believe this kid is reading? I can buy into demonic creatures and flesh-eating zombies, but I simply cannot accept that this guy is reciting from a reading of a dead language of all things…

      Sarcasm, right?

Aside from the ‘twist’ this reminds me of “Cabin in the Woods.”
