Movie Trailer: Suicide Squad (2016)

Even bad guys can be “good.” And a lot of them can do more “good.” Or so that’s the thought a clandestine government agency has and why they dreamed up putting together a team of supervillains to do their bidding. What precisely they’ll be doing in the upcoming Suicide Squad isn’t yet known but it could be linked to another way to stop an unchecked Superman (as seen to be a real fear in the latest trailer for “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”). What is known is the squad is comprised of: Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) and Slipknot (Adam Beach). Making his presence known is The Joker (Jared Leto), and based on his last second appearance it’s obvious he’s looking to get in on the action too. Check it out in the embedded trailer courtesy of Warner Bros.

Suicide Squad stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Scott Eastwood, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jay Hernandez and Adam Beach.

If Margot Kiddie can pull off the high-pitched school girl voice I’ll be in heaven.

I’m sure there is more to the *big picture* if you follow that sort of stuff but as an outsider to the comicbook universes I’m not so impressed by what I see.

Set aside the comic universe-it’s not a necessity to know. It’s an action movie with a star-studded cast, an interesting set of characters and a dark anti-hero vigilante story. I know I’d like to see more based on just that.

SS has a lot of upside but I’m afraid juggling 9 characters (10 if you include the joker) could water it down significantly.

They did alright with X-Men. I also expect a few of these characters to die off or disappear into obscurity. Aside from a core few like Captain Boomerang and Deadshot, the Squad is known for its revolving membership.

A lot of focus on Harley Quinn. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing but it makes me wonder how much love they’ll be giving to the others… there’s a lot of ego in this film that needs to be fed…

Harley Quinn is probably the most recognizable character of the team so that’s why she’s a highlight. And Margot Robbie. Every neckbeard on earth on loves Margot Robbie.

Correction, every heterosexual man on earth loves Margot Robbie.

Will Smith is the biggest ego and he went into this knowing he’s a part of something bigger than just him. Everyone will play nice in the sandbox..

I think we’ll see an origin story for Harley Quinn in possible a flashback. The end of the trailer has what looks like Joker torturing her when she was Dr. Harleen Quinzel, his psychiatrist in Arkham Asylum.

The Joker is one of the best, most iconic villains of all time and from what I see here Jared Leto is nailing it.

DC has come out swinging with Batman V Superman and now Suicide Squad. I hope they can deliver a knock-out one-two combo.

There is plenty of room for both especially since the tones of their universes is so different.
