Movie Trailer #2: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

When you destroy a major city you’re bound to make some enemies. In this latest trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Superman finds those enemies in the US government and Bruce Wayne/Batman. Fearing that unchecked, Superman, could annihilate the human race, each look for ways (some less nefarious than others) to curb the threat. What we also find in the trailer is Clark Kent is having a major crisis of identity, Ben Affleck scowls a lot as Bruce Wayne, Gal Gadot makes an appearance as Wonder Woman and the troops following Superman’s orders may somehow be tied into an alliance with Lex Luthor (who has hair that that is reminiscent of The Joker’s [whose existence is teased]). There’s more for sure, so check it out for yourself in the embedded trailer courtesy of Warner Bros.

To me it looks like DC has finally woken up, removed their head from their rearend and found a path forward with their cinematic universe. Marvel should take notice – the space they’ve dominated just got crowded.

Love the end with Batman standing and not giving a second thought to his being face to face with a guy/alien who just tore his Batmobile apart bare handed.

He shit himself. The dark costume just hides it well.

Showing more than I expected but less than I feared.

My temp is rising but I’m not breaking a fever just yet. Superman and Batman are primed but I need to see more of Jesse Eisenberg’s Luthor and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. If one of them is off it’ll screw up the entire production.

It looks dirty and awesome and I’m anxious to see how Suicide Squad is going to fit into this. Joker I assume will be the glue that binds them: we know he’s in Suicide Squad, and it looks like Robin’s suit with Joker’s message scrawled on it…

Dark Knight trilogy generated a lot of buzz as I recall

This is shaping up nicely and more importantly it is a welcome diversion from Marvel’s colorful ‘fun’ hero worship universe

Marvel may not use a grunge palette, but the military industrial complex out of control, government overreach, the loss of civil liberties is not fun colorful themes by any stretch.

Their movies have a lighter cheerier feel to them though and at the end of the day you don’t expect casualties (you definitely don’t see them) because you know the superhero will save the day.

My impression on how it will play out.

    1) Lex Luthor uses the body of Zod to find Superman’s weakness
    2) Lex Luthor exploits this to get Superman on his side
    3) Batman tangles with the Lex controlled Superman
    4) Even though he loses the battle, Batman gets Superman back in line
    5) Wonderwoman says hi
    6) Superman, Batman and Wonderwoman defeat Lex (temporarily)
    7) The trio agree to teamup in times of trouble
    8) Aquaman makes an appearance

This is why you can’t give people nice things like a Superman.

The destruction of Metropolis is a good tie-in. I also like the initial twist with Clark Kent investigating Batman and Bruce Wayne investigating Superman.

I’m late to the discussion but I’m getting in line now.
