Movie Trailer #2: Pacific Rim (2013)

I’ve shied away from trailer overload (some films are getting five to ten trailers nowadays) but I couldn’t pass on the latest trailer for Pacific Rim. It may not be as good as the action fueled WonderCon footage released a month back (I’ve embedded that below since I didn’t post when it first became available) but it certainly gives enough kick to now make this one of my most anticipated sci-fi movies of the year (“Star Trek Into Darkness” is my first in case you cared). For recap purposes, aliens called Kaiju rise from the seas and begin to destroy civilization. In response, humans develop monstrous robots called Jaeger to do battle with them. These battles, as seen in the trailers, are pushing CGI to its limits and look fantastic. To hell with character development, I say! Bring the pain!

You can watch the first trailer for the film here: Pacific Rim Trailer #1.

Pacific Rim stars Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Rinko Kikuchi, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, Burn Gorman and Larry Joe Campbell.

Pacific Rim protects US and UK theaters on July 12, 2013.

This movie is going to be so much more awesome than Star Trek 2 or the Superman superhero fluff.

Star Trek and Superman have large, loyal audiences so I’ll bet they’ll think differently.

I think the fans of Star Trek spoke and they were none too happy with Into Darkness.

Incredible CGI but I’m willing to bet my first born the story is going to suck balls.
