There is plenty going on in this latest trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and much of it centers around Rey (Daisy Ridley). Luke (Mark Hamill) recognizes she harnesses powers he’s only seen once before and he is frightened of what it could mean should he continue training her. Supreme Leader Snoke knows it too and, as The Emperor before him did with Luke, will do whatever is necessary to get Rey to unleash her strength and turn her to the dark side. There’s also a possible goodbye to Leia (Carrie Fisher died late last year) as it is teased her son, the conflicted Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), who has already killed his father Han in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” takes aim her way. How her fate plays out is anybodies guess at this point, but it’s sure be a interesting tug-of-war for Rey’s mind and soul to watch play out come December. Watch for yourself in the embedded trailer courtesy of Lucasfilm.

Is the golden stormtrooper Tom Hardy? He’s rumored to be in Last Jedi.

Kylo Ren and Rey switch teams. I said it here first.
Luke rejects Rey when he sees the power she possesses and a touch of darkness in her heart. Kylo Ren consumed with guilt for killing Han and Leia seeks redemption from his uncle Luke.

Too obvious.
Rey will get teased to the Dark Side but she won’t fall. Watch for Finn to play a role in a doublecross. He may still be First Order

They borrowed that dirt rising scene from Man of Steel! Looks cool anyway though. I’m just mostly glad they didn’t make a rehash of Empire Strikes Back at this point ….

Don’t be so sure it isn’t yet. As big as the Star Wars universe is, there are only so many stories to tell. Assuming the trailer isn’t a big misdirection, then they’ll rehash the Palpatine/Luke fight by having Supreme Leader Snoke try to convert Rey to his side by deception or the killing of key players in the rebellion like Leia and Luke.

Won’t happen but I hope Rey gets killed off and Luke remains the last Jedi.
