Movie Trailer: Tammy (2014)

Melissa McCarthy is back doing what she does best — acting outrageous and profane. Okay, you won’t notice the profane from this first trailer for New Line Cinema’s Tammy but let me assure you, come redband trailer time it’ll be there. She plays the titular character who goes through a series of misadventures when she goes on a road trip with her grandmother after losing her job and discovering her husband is a cheat. The trailer below, highlights one particular adventure in which she tries to rob a Toppy Jacks restaurant. While light on just about everything, there are enough chuckles to be had to want to see the next tease (depending on how she is used, Susan Sarandon as a crude, alcoholic granny could be comedy gold). Check it out.

Tammy stars Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon, Dan Aykroyd, Allison Janney, Kathy Bates and Toni Collette.

She is good at stealing scenes as a secondary character. Identity Thief proved to me her schtick can’t carry a movie.

Whenever I see Melissa McCarthy I think of Animal House when Dean Wormer says to Flounder, “Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.”

Oh look a fat person can’t jump over a counter. That’s so close to being funny. The only way this’ll be worth a damn is if Susan Sarandon shows up to do more than pull a paycheck.
